mix it up

In this, God is issuing further laws, most of which in regard to offerings and how Israel should live while on earth:

“You shall not do at all what we are doing here today, every man and woman doing whatever is right in his or her own eyes; for you have not as yet come to the resting place and the inheritance which the LORD your God is giving to you.” – Deuteronomy 12:8-9

I was talking with some buddies of mine, Chauncey and Mike, in reference to sexuality and how the Church currently interacts with the topic. Though I don’t plan on getting into this (at least not right now), Chaunce said that one of our old professors once spoke about how when he and his wife made decisions, no matter how confident they were, they always spoke with their community to ensue further discussion on the subject. Why? Because the last thing they wanted to do was be self-determinant, thinking their lifestyle was acceptable before the Lord despite how much they consulted Him personally. Moreover, whenever their beliefs that stemmed from Scripture were unorthodox and rejected the status quo of mainstream evangelicalism, they thought it best to bring their opinions before others so as not to please themselves.

I love that.

“Be careful to listen to all these words which I command you, so that it may be well with you and your sons and daughters after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the LORD your God.” – Deuteronomy 12:28
