hold on tight and don’t let go [i won’t ever let you fall]

Lifetime Goal: To be confident enough to talk about my life while knowing that when I speak, the words of my voice are already backed up by my actions.

Cornel West knows what he’s talking about. The last half of the clip is best. Read up on him – despite being a professor at Princeton and doing all sorts of civil rights work, he still finds time to go to schools and hang out with kids  by playing a little hip hop during their lunch break.

Also, my small group is reading a book guiding us through a character study of Elijah. We are in the early chapters, but the author mentions a quote from some biblical scholar named A.W. Pink, who, on the topic of leadership, writes, “Alas, how little is man to be trusted: how little is he able to bear being put into the place of honor! How quickly self rises to the surface, and the instrument is ready to believe he is something more than an instrument. How sadly easy it is to make of the very service God entrusts us with a pedestal on which to display ourselves.”

Just something wonderfully captivating to ponder on.
